Bedside Ultrasound for the Emrgency Physician
The American College of Emergency Physicians has endorsed the performance of ultrasound by emergency physicians and it is now a standard part of the core curriculum for emergency medicine residents. This intensive hands-on seminar utilizes a series of didactic, workshop and small group sessions to accomplish one goal — to prepare you to perform and interpret bedside ultrasonography. Due to the intensive one-on-one nature of this course, attendance will be limited.
Objectives: Participants will perform ultrasound examinations at different stations on live models and learn how to:
- Demonstrate the steps required to prepare and operate an ultrasound machine.
- Perform and interpret ultrasound imaging studies.
- Detect pericardial and intraperitoneal fluid via ultrasound.
- Perform transabdominal and rapid (FAST) trauma ultrasound exams.
- Locate and identify the kidneys, liver and biliary system via ultrasound.
- Plan and conduct the correct placement of central lines.
